Why did you become a hairstylist?
I loved being where Fashion and Art collided, and the fact that you could earn a living in such a creative context blew me away. It still does.
What inspires you?
Anything original, inviting, moody, playful, well-crafted, spirited, lively, eye-catching, tinged with mischief, beautiful in a way that catches you off guard. For me, a great haircut is like that.
I have been inspired by both the Vidal Sassoon company and Bumble & bumble and have taken classes from both. I get particularly excited by pixie cuts, long lustrous layers, "hella-current" shags, and all haircuts that are well crafted enough to work by themselves.
A product you can’t live without?
Rene Furterer's Lumicia Illuminating Shine Rinse, the reason I can't help myself reaching for it is due to its fabulous detangling plus it's a conditioning product that doesn't weigh the hair down or leave residue. Which makes it a true friend to good haircutting!
